Did you know that in Madison Wisconsin, their city bird is the plastic flamingo?

I wrote that correctly- the plastic yard decor that was famous in the 60’s made such an impression on the city that in 2009 they made it officially their bird.

That cracks me up. I love Wisconsin. The state is so unique, just like the flamingo.

Elder Holland gave an amazing talk called Songs Sung and Unsung where he talks about how unique we all are. He gave a great analogy that illustrated that we are all in the same choir, and we are all singing the same song, trying to stay on tune. An all bass choir, or all soprano choir, doesn’t sound as good and a rich choir filled with many different voices, each unique.

If you missed this talk, or have forgotten about it, it is well worth the read. Especially if you don’t even feel like “singing” in the gospel song. Elder Holland has a beautiful talent with words.

I am not a great singer, and so I painted.

Pres. Monson gave a beautiful message called Living the Abundant Life one January. With the new year in mind, he challenged us to life an abundant life.

He talked about the importance of attitude, “The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference.” I LOVE that. The way we see things makes a difference.

Does that mean I may be “seeing” things incorrectly, that there are more than one way to view a circumstance? YES! The way we respond to that person or circumstance is also optional! I love the power that thought gives me!

Pres. Monson continues to teach that if we believe in ourselves, and have the courage to face challenges we will live more abundantly.

He ends with this truth bomb:

“Don’t limit yourself, and don’t let others convince you that you are limited in what you can do. Believe in yourself and then life so, as to reach your possibilities. You can achieve what you believe you can.

Can I get a mic drop!?! Let that settle for a minute…

If you need a power boost then read either of these talks. They are both so uplifting and powerful. I am so glad we have inspired men sent by God to help us navigate this world.
